Burls: Their biology and beauty

Local artisan, Ben Rowley, will share the biology of burls – an abnormal growth that occurs on some trees – and the unique art that is created from these abnormalities. Ben will discuss the formation of burlwood, clarify standard misconceptions of its biology and practical use, compare with other figured woods, and discuss forestry ethics.
